Maya Kawatake Pinon

Maya Kawatake Pinon has developed a choreographic and performance-based practice rooted in the hybridisation of historical dance forms and contemporary approaches, which she uses as critical tools to explore the body, its inherited legacies and its vulnerabilities. Bringing together artistic creation, research and knowledge-sharing, her work with Compagnie FRICTIONS explores the frictions between cultures, aesthetics and identities through interdisciplinary performance formats combining dance, visual installation and music.
