Mehrali Razaghmanesh
Mehrali Razaghmanesh (b. 1983) is an Iranian photographer working between Paris and Tehran. His work is deeply influenced by Iranian art and philosophy, evident in its poetic style and unique visual language.
Positioned at the threshold between photography and painting, Mehrali challenges the boundaries of these two mediums with a profound focus on nature. Through a painterly reimagining of landscapes in photography, he seeks to revive a world of imagination. Rather than merely capturing nature, he searches for a visual interpretation—one that moves the image toward imagination itself.
His work has been exhibited internationally, including at Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels, Belgium; Les Rencontres d’Arles 2019, Arles, France; Foam Photography Museum, Netherlands; On Earth: Imaging, Technology and the Natural World at Le Lieu Unique, Nantes, France; Photolux Festival, Italy; and CLB Berlin, Germany.
This project aims to create a series of large-format satellite images, made using the gum bichromate technique, depicting landscapes from various countries. Through this process and the very nature of the images, I explore a pictorial reinterpretation of the Earth in photography. My intention is to achieve a visual narrative in which the Earth plays a fundamental role in the history of art, while offering a visual interpretation of the exploration of the linguistic roots of 'culture' and 'agriculture'
