Valentin Noujaïm

Valentin Noujaïm is a French-Lebanese artist and filmmaker whose practice is based primarily on the moving image, its potential and its limits. Through cinematographic experiments and videos, he attempts to capture life experiences that have been neglected in the writing of history and its dominant understanding.

Since 2022, Valentin Noujaïm has been working on a video trilogy exploring the depths of the La Défense business district. Shot in 16mm, with music by Space Afrika and visual effects by Nicolas Pirus, the trilogy explores the urban subconscious, depicting La Défense as a futuristic labyrinth trapping souls amidst concrete and glass. The first installments, Pacific Club and To Exist Under Permanent Suspicion, precede Demons to Diamonds, currently in preparation. The three films will be accompanied by a series of sculptures for a solo exhibition in 2025.
