Yara Bou Nassar
Yara Bou Nassar is a Lebanese performer, director and writer. Her practice combines movement research, archives and fiction to explore the intersection between intimacy, collective memory, trauma and political realities. Drawing on family archives, autobiographical experiences and other testimonies, her work blurs the boundaries between fiction and documentary. Her work includes “The Adventures of a Hypothetical Self” and “Tomorrow Is the Best Day of My Life”. She works with many directors including Jeremy Nedd, Antje Schupp, Franz-Xaver Mayr, Jessica Glause, Maximilian Hanisch, Johanna Benrath, Mateja Meded, Julien Bouffier, among others. Yara studied theatre at the Lebanese University’s Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture and further developed her practice through workshops in New York at the Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, in Barcelona at the Escola de Mim, and in Beirut with international directors and theatre-makers including Nathalie Garraud, Federico León and Kassem Bayatli.
