Art au collège

Les montagnes russes des palais

During this project, artist Célia Coëtte accompanied a class of 4ᵉ SEGPA students from Collège Henri Barbusse, located in Saint-Denis. The aim was to invite these students, who are taking a cooking course at school, to imagine and shape together a world of ceramic dishes and containers, inspired by the imaginary world of an amusement park.

The first session was an opportunity to get to know each other, and to introduce the students to Célia's work, the Fondation's exhibition space and technical workshops, and the proposed project.

In the following sessions, the students sketched the ceramic pieces they wanted to make, drew up the banquet menu and visited the Lafayette Anticipations. This unique venue, whose mobile platforms shape the space as needed, provided inspiration for their creations.

Once the menu and architecture of the banquet had been decided, the students, accompanied by the artist, modelled and painted the numerous ceramic pieces over several sessions.

The final event, held at the Fiminco Foundation, took the form of a large banquet, where the food, cooked at the school by the students, was served in the ceramic vessels created during the project. After sharing the meal with the artists in residence and the Foundation team, each student left with one of the works they had created.
