FAST
CULTURAL DISTRICT
In 2019, the FAST - Fiminco Art Studios - cultural district opened its doors on an 11,000m² site, presenting an ambitious project to welcome long-standing residents in the field of visual arts, as well as hosting the Fonds régional d'art contemporain, the Parsons School of Design and several art galleries. Today, the project has expanded to 50,000m²: a vast site that will connect the visual arts with dance, theatre and music, through the creation of a hub dedicated to cultural structures and a large performance venue.
TRANSFORMATION
"A former industrial site now dedicated to art and culture"
Groupe FIMINCO is continuing to transform the former pharmaceutical industrial site in Romainville by gradually opening up a further 40,000m² to different types of cultural players. Art schools, businesses, artists' companies and craftsmen - many cultural and artistic institutions will be able to set up their premises in this second part of the district. A new short-stay residence in a new building designed by architect Jean-Michel Willmotte will accommodate artists and students in the building's 146 rooms. Lastly, the cultural quarter will enable the entities present on the site to benefit from storage spaces located in the basements of the various premises, a proposal completed by the construction of a storage space for works of art, with optimal hygrometric and temperature conditions, and with large artists' studios on its façade. Last but not least, the cultural quarter will feature a green theatre at its centre, crowning a deliberate initiative to make the site greener: 100 trees planted, 30% of open spaces and green roofs.
Opening up to the performing arts
"New vast workspaces for theatre, music and dance."
The site will also soon have three large rehearsal rooms and a 600-seat theatre dedicated to performing arts: theatre, music, dance and cinema. Performing arts are taking on a new dimension with ambitious partnerships, notably with the Philharmonie de Paris, the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Festival d'Automne. These agreements will enable the creation and presentation of projects of excellence and a diversity of programming shared with local audiences. The move of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique - PSL to the FAST cultural district in 2025 is part of our commitment to artistic creation, transmission and higher education. Students will benefit from a setting that is conducive to creation and experimentation, thereby contributing to the vitality and dynamism of the area.
