The Fondation
Who are we?
Created in 2017, the Fondation Fiminco is reinvesting an old industrial wasteland in Romainville, accessible by metro, on the outskirts of Paris, in order to make it an open-to-all resource hub for artists from all over the world.
AN EXCEPTIONAL ENVIRONMENT
"A site thought for artists and the public."
With its long-standing commitment to cultural patronage, Groupe FIMINCO created the Fondation Fiminco in 2017 and set it up on the former industrial site of the Roussel-Uclaf factories in Romainville. By taking over these unusual premises, the Fondation Fiminco is pursuing its mission of supporting contemporary artists and providing access to culture for all, as close as possible to the social and cultural dynamics of Grand Paris.
Designed with artists in mind, the site provides them with the spaces, tools and support they need to create an ideal working environment, promoting encounters between all forms of art. This new cultural district brings together all the ingredients needed to create a genuine ecosystem for contemporary creation in a single location aimed at artists: artists' residencies, exhibition and mediation spaces, galleries, and soon, performing arts structures, craftspeople, associations and a concert hall.
The first part of the project, due to open in October 2019, covers 11,000 m2 and includes the Fabrique - Fondation Fiminco international artists' residence, exhibition spaces, seven contemporary art galleries - Air de Paris, Galerie Sator, Galerie Jocelyn Wolff, In Situ - Fabienne Leclerc, 22,48 m2, Galerie D. and Quai 36, the Gingerlemon audiovisual production company, the book design and publishing house Laurel Parker Book, a campus of the Parsons Paris art and design school, as well as a printing house - Après Midi Lab - and the new storage facillity of the Frac Île-de-France. The second part of the site, currently undergoing renovation, is now home to the Blanca Li company dance studio and the studios of artists Ivan Argote and Mehdi-Georges Lahlou.
In September 2025, the district will undergo an important stage in its development, as all the students of the Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique (CNSAD) will move into the 4,000m2 building dedicated to them.
EDITORIAL
Every year, the Fondation Fiminco offers a wide range of artistic and cultural programs that reflect the richness and diversity of contemporary creation. The regular arrival of new artists from all over the world in our studios continues to encourage the creative effervescence and mixing of disciplines that are the cornerstones of our institution. At the gateway to Paris, the Fondation brings to life Europe's largest cultural district, FAST, a vast platform of unparalleled resources that resonates with the profound changes taking place in our urban environments.
The influence of the FABRIQUE residency program intensifies each season, enriched by the growing participation of artists from all disciplines. In response to strong demand, the Fondation has launched the TALENTS! program, capsule residencies co-constructed with prestigious international partners.
Performing arts take on a new dimension with ambitious partnerships, notably with the Philharmonie de Paris, the Théâtre du Châtelet and the Festival d'Automne. These agreements will enable the creation and presentation of projects of excellence and a diversity of programming shared with local audiences. The move of the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique - PSL to the FAST cultural district in 2025 is part of our commitment to artistic creation, transmission and higher education.
Numerous educational and social projects are organized throughout the year for schoolchildren and the general public. Since its inception, the Fondation has forged lasting partnerships with local authorities, cultural institutions and local players to carry out artistic projects in close proximity to local residents.
All these initiatives make the Fondation Fiminco a reflection of our society and testify to the energy deployed by our teams to bring to life and pass on our ambition: to create and share.

A true cultural ecosystem
"Private and public players from all fields of creation."
From 2025, the Cultural Quarter will extend beyond the visual arts to include the performing arts, notably dance, theatre and music. The nearly 120,000m² site, including 50,000m² dedicated to culture, will feature a performance hall designed by architect Paul Ravaux and three large rehearsal rooms for orchestras and dance companies. With a seating capacity of 600 and an exceptional height of 13 metres, the auditorium will be entirely modular. Echoing the resolutely multi-disciplinary DNA of the Cultural Quarter, it will offer the chance to see and hear theatre as well as dance and music, with the emphasis on programmes combining several artistic fields.
A short-stay residence designed by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte will accommodate artists and students in the building's 146 rooms. The offer is completed by a 4,000 m² storage building for works of art and sets, with optimal humidity and temperature conditions, and large artists' studios on its façade.
All in all, the Fondation Fiminco in Romainville offers a veritable ecosystem, with facilities for all disciplines and the presence of private and public players, constantly building bridges between all the arts, all closely linked to the life of the neighbourhood brought to life by the 1,300 homes spread across the site.
